With only 47,000 visitors, Interzum 2009 in Cologne failed to reach the goal of 50,000 visitors. The share of international visitors was 65% compared to 70% expected. In the final press release the fair organizer pointed out the quality leads of Interzum. This was confirmed by the exhibitors of solid wood and veneer. Interzum has regained its position as the world’s leading fair for the furniture supply industry, people said in Cologne. However, the Cologne fair could still not attract the wood-based panel industry at Interzum, as the majority of the European particle board and MDF producers were still absent.
